Q: What gave you a clue that you might have a hormone problem?
A: Well, one day every month I felt out of control, was angry, would cry for no reason and could not cope with the smallest of issues. It was very out of character for me, so I knew something was wrong. I did not know about hormone imbalance or premenstrual syndrome then. I thought it was me just being an absolute bitch.
Q: What effect did this hormone situation have on your life?
A: These symptoms made my life very difficult at times. I took my bad mood out on the person I love most, my husband. I would growl at the kids but my husband really copped it. A few times he walked out, but thankfully he always came back. These symptoms would only affect me for one day each month, usually about the fifth day before my menstrual cycle. Every other day in the month I would be a normal happy easy-going person.
Q: What options were you offered to help relieve your symptoms?
A: After several years of feeling this way I'd had enough. I went to a local GP who said I was overworked and tired. Don't all mothers feel overworked and tired? I knew the difference between being tired and wanting to punch a hole in the wall. Not long afterward I accidentally, or coincidentally, met John Waitzer, the Australian marketer of Remifemin. I told him of my symptoms and 30 Plus was developed. I cannot |
believe the difference the 'bitch relief' pills (as I call them) made. I felt a calm come over me and my irrational behaviour went away.
Q: What is the main benefit you receive from taking 30 Plus?
A: The main benefit of taking 30 Plus for me is that I am still married. I no longer have that day where I rant and rave. My emotions are normal and there are no more tears. People don't need to take my word for it, they should try it themselves. It takes around six to eight weeks to kick in.
Q: How important is diet to your overall health and fitness?
A: A good healthy diet is the key to wellbeing. It fuels your body so you can exercise, think better, sleep better and reduce your stress levels. Good nutrition, exercise, adequate sleep and a positive attitude equate to optimal wellbeing.
Q: What is the most important piece of advice you could give to up and coming sports stars about their diet and lifestyle choices?
A: You get only one body, best look after it well. Where you go in life from this day forward is totally up to you. Know where you want to go, what to do to get there and, above all, depend upon yourself.
